I am in the process of learning how Seven Years War works and have a question... How does a unit become "detached" ? As far as I can tell I have the officers close to their units with some units detached and others not... In this game detached units cannot melee..

I am playing the Hochkirch scenario with Hans... The game plays very differently than the Napoleonic Campaign Games... Some of the differences that make things difficult or I have not just figured them out: Artillery cannot be stacked with infantry... Which to me makes it hard to defend... And using Cavalry as scouts can be expensive if they running into the enemy lined infantry... I was able to wipe out 100 man cavalry units with 2 or 3 infantry regiments firing on them.. There are many more differences to the game...

The game play to me seems a bit cumbersome... But they are trying to keep the game play more like the era... I believe Mark Van Hattem and Hans Bentien are playing it with manual defensive fire and some additional rules... I would check with them..

Vladimir I think this is your kind of game... But we will only know that should you choose to purchase it..

I like it because of the Prussian era of warfare... With that being said I prefer Napoleonic much more, but will play this game for something a little different... And I also think it fits the Napoleonic era better than any other...

Hans and Mark may have a different view...

It is OK. Differences should be - it is another epoch of the warfare. But I would not wish to see any kind of unhistorical or unrealistic things. Moreover, to pay my money for this.

Oops! It is unhistorical nonsense already! At the time of 7YW, all European armies had 3 or 4 pdr Regimental/Battalion cannon, and the guns always were positioned with infantry Lines.

I know that the regimeters partly had 2 cannons! But not in the game!?
Unfortunately I'm not a big specialist in this time! :(
