Salerno '43 Tournament Rules

Round 1 Scenario

T430913_01: The German Counterattack (20 turns)

#430913_01_Salerno_Counterattack.scn

Salerno Beachhead, September 13th 1943: By the morning of September 13th, General von Vietinghoff, Commander of the German Tenth Army, was confident that he could summon all his strength and drive the Allies from the beachhead. Smokescreens near Battipaglia, and radio intercepts, suggested the Americans were considering withdrawal. And while he was not certain of this, he believed the enemy could no longer withstand a heavy, focused attack at the junction of both corps. [Size Medium] Designer Note: Allied Player is Side One, but the Germans are the attackers in this scenario and must take the objectives to deny the Allied player while not losing any more Axis held objectives.

Round 2 Scenario

440126_01: Expanding the Beachhead (24 Turns)

#440123_01_Anzio_Expanding_
Beachhead.scn

Anzio, Jan 26th 1944: After four days of 'securing' the beachhead, General Lucas, commander of the US VI Corps, agreed to a plan to expand it. The US 3rd Division was to take Cisterna with the British 1st Division taking Campoleone. This was too little, too late. Had Lucas moved on the first day, or early on the second, he may have met with success, but unfortunately, by this time, the Germans had thrown up a ring of steel around Anzio, which was getting stronger by the minute. The result was a portent of things to come, desperate fighting, in grim conditions, where neither side was willing to submit. [Size, medium]

Round 3 Scenario

This is the same scenario from Round 1... In this round the Germans officers play the Allied side of the battlefield... While the Allied officers give commanding the Axis side of the battlefield for the last round...
